The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2% - 30 ml
The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2% is a highly concentrated lactic acid peel for the skin surface. Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxyl acid that exfoliates the skin. This 10% formulation provides gentle exfoliation and is supported with purified Tasmanian pepper, which is known to reduce the signs of inflammation and sensitivity often associated with exfoliation. A milder 5% formula is available here. This formula contains tested Tasmanian pepper berry derivative to reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of vegetable origin and varies in color seasonally, and this color variation may be visible in the formula from time to time. Contraindications: Lactic acid should not be used on sensitive, scaly or compromised skin. Please see additional sun protection note and other warnings in the manual. This pH formula is approx. 3,8. Lactic acid has a pKa of 3,8 and pKa is the most important aspect to be aware of when formulating with acids. pKa implies acid availability. When pKa is close to pH, there is an ideal balance between salt and acidity, maximizing the efficiency of the acid and reducing irritation. Higher pH numbers would then increase the salt which counterintuitively would make the formula even more irritating than if the formula were more acidic. Note: While lactic acid can give rapid results, we generally suggest indirect forms of exfoliations in favor of direct forms, such as this formula due to possible inflammation and sensitivity associated with acids.
